Stuart Baldwinson is a senior Australian Army officer with more than 30 years of service and extensive experience in health services leadership, organisational transformation, training, workforce management and capability development. Stuart commenced his Army career as a soldier in 1992 before being selected for officer training at the Royal Military College–Duntroon, graduating in 2001. His career has since included command, operational and senior staff appointments, predominantly within military health services. These include command of a 140-person deployable health unit, establishment of an Army soldier recovery capability for wounded, injured and ill personnel, and three years as Commanding Officer and Chief Instructor of the Army School of Health. During this command, Stuart led significant modernisation of military health training while supporting Defence's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours for his leadership, foresight, innovation and contribution to transforming ADF health training. His broader experience includes senior Army Headquarters and health capability appointments, operational deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and service as Chief of Staff of the Army's 2nd Health Brigade. Stuart previously co-chaired the Australian Army Committee for Tactical Combat Casualty Care and has been actively involved with ATMA since 2018. A former committee member and longstanding conference Master of Ceremonies, he was made a Fellow of ATMA in 2024 for his contribution to advancing civilian and military tactical medicine in Australia and internationally.

Matt, the Vice President of ATMA is a highly experienced Intensive Care Paramedic with a remarkable 23-year tenure in various roles within the health industry. Throughout his career, Matt has worked in diverse clinical settings both internationally and within Australia, including hospitals, community healthcare, and education environments. This breadth of experience has shaped his extensive knowledge and expertise. What sets Matt apart is his energetic and authentic leadership style, which resonates with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders alike. He embodies the values of leadership, integrity, personal drive, and professional behaviour, consistently demonstrating his commitment to these principles. In terms of qualifications, Matt holds registrations as both a Registered Nurse and Registered Paramedic. He has also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Tactical Medicine and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Terrorism and Security Services. This diverse academic background further enriches his ability to contribute effectively to the field of tactical medicine. Since 2019, Matt has taken on the role of National CPD Manager for ATMA. In this capacity, he passionately advocates for the highest standards of patient care in Tactical, Austere, and High Threat Environments. Matt's dedication and drive are evident in his unwavering commitment to continuous professional development and the pursuit of excellence in tactical medicine.

With over a decade of experience in Military Medicine, Elyza is a highly skilled Corporal in the Australian Army and a NSW Ambulance Paramedic. She holds a Bachelor of Registered Nursing and a Bachelor of Paramedicine, bringing a wealth of knowledge to her specialisations in Special Operations and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). Known to many as Lyz, she is deeply passionate about point-of-injury care and is dedicated to mentoring junior medics to foster their growth. Her extensive training and operational expertise have made her a standout leader both in Australia and overseas. Eager to bring her strong commitment to austere medicine and military leadership to the role of General Manager, Lyz hopes to drive excellence and innovation across the organisation. In her free time, she stays fit by competing in triathlons.

Carlie is the Secretary for ATMA and has been in this position for more than five years now. She likes to think of herself as an executive assistant to the leadership team and looks after all sorts of administrative and organisational tasks Outside of ATMA, Carlie is a Critical Care Paramedic, RN and Casual instructor for TacMed. She has a particular love for the aeromedical environment and mountain medicine, and in her spare time has a great interest in food and the outdoors.

Toby is a disaster resilience and recovery professional with experience across finance, community support, and public policy. His work has focused on how governance, funding systems, and frontline support can reduce risk and improve recovery outcomes for communities affected by disaster. He began his career in accounting and audit before moving into financial counselling, working with individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, including those impacted by drought and natural hazards. This frontline experience informed his later work in government, where he has been involved in disaster recovery lending, monitoring and evaluation, resilience policy, and disaster recovery operations. Toby currently works at the Queensland Reconstruction Authority as a Principal Advisor, contributing to recovery planning, resilience initiatives, and whole-of-government policy development. He was responsible for authoring the 2024–25 State Recovery and Resilience Plan and leads recovery intelligence functions during major state disaster events. He holds a Master of Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development and a Bachelor of Accounting. Toby is in his fourth year as Treasurer and a Board Member of the Australian Tactical Medical Association, where he supports financial oversight, governance, and strategic decision-making. He also volunteers as a board member with his local Rotary, as a financial counsellor with Lifeline (including outreach work in western Queensland), and with youth programs through Red Cross in Brisbane.

Sam has over 18 years’ experience as a first responder, including 5 years of policing followed by the last 13 years plus as a firefighter with a large state-based service where his role extends to medical response and technical rescue disciplines. Sam’s experience extends beyond frontline operations having developed key emergency medical response doctrine, protocols and training, a major capability uplift project, and has served as a subject matter expert on a course reaccreditation steering committee. In addition to his full-time employment Sam has maintained instructor rolls in both the VET and tertiary education fields teaching and developing content for a range of clients and individuals including policing, military, security, and pre-hospital care teams. He holds a Master of Terrorism and Security studies, Graduate Certificates in Tactical Medicine and Intelligence Analysis, as well as Diplomas in paramedical science and policing. He has travelled overseas for research and published several articles on counter terrorism and high threat response including on the topics of fire as a weapon and integrated warm zone response. Sam is incredibly passionate about the mission of ATMA and improving preparedness and response to high threat incidents across Australia. .

Jess is a current serving Flight Sergeant Medic in the Royal Australian Air Force. Jess has 18 years of experience in Military Medicine and is the Senior Medic for her health squadron. Jess is dedicated to improving the professional development of her colleagues in addition to that of her own. She is a dual-registered clinician with Paramedic and Enrolled Nurse registration, earning her Bachelor of Paramedicine whilst working full-time. Jess maintains her professional currency through regular casual employment at John Hunter Hospital Emergency Department. Jess’ time in Air Force has seen her deploy on operations both domestically and overseas. Her experiences have involved emergency treatment at the Point of Injury and within discrete and larger deployed medical treatment facilities. Her evacuation experience consists of surface evacuation in addition to rotary and fixed wing evacuation operations. A key highlight of her career (so far) is her time as an instructor at the ADF School of Health, where she was fortunate to educate and train the new generation of Navy, Army and Air Force Medics; a privilege and responsibility not taken lightly. During her tenure Jess also specialised in delivering combat and operational medicine training including TCCC, Rotary Wing Aeromedical Evacuation, and CBRN Health. Jess is passionate about empowering first responders from any background with the knowledge and skills to save lives in those early minutes, be prepared to continue to look after those casualties for extended timeframes and, to do so with the best possible evidence and understanding for their interventions.

MJ, a true force in the field of tactical medicine. MJ is not only an Intensive Care Paramedic Team Leader within NSW Ambulance, but also an active member of the Australian Army Reserve. With a remarkable background, MJ brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization. Moreover, MJ's expertise extends beyond these roles. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Trauma Innovation Committee within the NSW Institute of Trauma and Injury Management, MJ plays a vital role in driving advancements and shaping the future of tactical medicine. Rachael, a Captain Health Officer in the Australian Army who has experience within health operations, logistic and training. Her experience in deploying healthcare to remote and rural areas, both domestically and internationally, enables her to plan and execute effectively to support clinicians. Rachael is passionate about enabling combat health training and exercise designs inclusive of ensuring the right medical support is provided during military training and deployments. She enjoys reading the latest health intelligence injects and relevant lessons learnt. Prior to joining the Army in 2018 she worked as a Registered Nurse on the Central Coast this significantly enhances her health planning. She enjoys American Football, camping and trying new foods.

Mark handles all the technology and the day-to-day operations of the ATMA website. He is also the producer and editor of ATMA TV.

As our Partnership Manager, JB plays a pivotal role in connecting our organisation with key industry leaders. He is dedicated to cultivating strategic alliances that not only align with our core mission but also secure the vital funding needed to sustain and grow our initiatives. Through his tireless efforts, JB ensures that our collaborative efforts remain strong, impactful, and mutually beneficial.

Matt is a Special Operations/Intensive Care Paramedic with wide and varied experience working in prehospital medicine across austere, remote and tactical settings. He is a Director of the training and consultancy company Blacksmiths, is on the boards of ATMA and Veterans Care Association and is a Fellow of ATMA and the Academy of Extreme Environment Medicine. He is a Churchill Fellow (Tactical Emergency Medical Support) and was the recipient of the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission Ian O'Rourke Fellowship (Clinical Governance in Tactical Medical Operations). As a passionate educator Matt has built training teams and created capabilities across the country, including as Paramedic Educator for Royal Flying Doctor Service, National Training Manager for TacMed Australia and Clinical Training Officer for Tactical Medicine in NSW Ambulance Special Operations. Matt was the founding President of the Australian Tactical Medical Association. He is a massive proponent for the power of education and training to enhance capabilities and bring people together, forging better outcomes for our patients wherever they may be.

Cam has been managing our truly amazing volunteer student Paramedics each year. In the lead up to ATMC he filters through multiple applications and rigorously selects the best to provide support to our annual conference.

Orlando is a student Paramedic and Army Reserve Engineer. He has been volunteering at the conference each year. This year he will be part of the team helping manage our memberships.
