PROLOGED FIELD CARE (PFC) OF THE CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT WORKSHOP DATE: Tuesday, 22nd September 2026 TIME: 8:00am - 5:00pm VENUE: Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) ROOM: Room to be confirmed closer to the conference via the Program REGISTRATION FEE: $350 – registration fee does not include any catering. HOSTED BY: Dr Elisa Milford & Adam Cantrick DESCRIPTION: This workshop aims to improve participants’ knowledge and practical skills in Prolonged Field Care (PFC) with a particular focus on caring for the critically ill patient in resource limited, austere, operational environments. Topics covered will include basic cares of the critically ill (“housekeeping”), basic ventilator skills, commonly used drugs, management and de-escalation of drains and tubes, wound care, end of life cares, and specific conditions. Participants will revise the fundamental elements of PFC theory including basic diagnostics, clinical reasoning, medical logistics, documentation and telemedicine. The workshop will consist of large group lectures and small group discussions and practical sessions. At the end of the workshop participants will have improved their knowledge of PFC principles and have enhanced their skills in delivering care to critically ill patients in austere locations beyond standard evacuation times. WORKSHOP TARGET AUDIENCE: Medics, Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, Allied Health clinicians. The training will be tailored to the clinical experience of the participants and is recommended for both military and civilian participants. |
